The Ritual SiteS

The Game Master does not choose the Ritual Sites at random. Each location is a scar in the fabric of reality, tethered to a moment of horror that once unfolded in our world. Where blood was spilled in senseless slaughter, where innocence was torn away, or where madness consumed lives - these stains echo in the Inbetween.

When it launched, the Helios Program was humanity’s proudest moment: the first manned interstellar vessel, proof that we could go further when united. For five years it ventured out into the dark, sending back steady reports from beyond the Solar System.

Then the signals stopped.

Four months of silence passed before Helios spoke again. But the transmissions were not the same. No charts. No data. No mention of the mission. Instead, the voices seemed intent on conversation. Small talk, questions, laughter that came just a little too late. They wanted someone, anyone, to stay on the line.

The longer they spoke, the stranger it felt. Questions repeated word for word. Familiar voices began to blur, as if rehearsed. Beneath the chatter was a raw, aching need that unsettled every listener. It was still the crew of Helios - at least, that’s what the voices insisted.

But what came back from the void no longer sounded like explorers reporting home. It sounded like something very lonely, learning how to keep us talking.

Cirque du Solara

The echoes of laughter have long since faded at Cirque du Solara, leaving behind only the whispers of something far more sinister. Once a dazzling travelling circus run by the infamous Solara sisters, it now serves as a cursed playground for Morgus, where illusion and nightmare intertwine.

The carnival grounds are littered with forgotten remnants of its past—faded banners, abandoned attractions, and eerie tents concealing far more than just circus tricks. Those who step inside must navigate twisted pathways, evade sinister traps, and piece together the dark secrets that lurk beneath the carnival lights.

But beware, for in Cirque du Solara, nothing is ever as it seems… and the greatest performance may just be your last.

Blackthorne Manor

A monument to wealth, excess, and tragedy, Blackthorne Manor has stood for centuries, its halls filled with whispers of a past few dare to speak of. Once home to one of the most powerful aristocratic families, the estate has since fallen into ruin, its grandeur eroded by time—and something far more insidious.

The manor’s lavish interiors conceal more than just opulent history. Shadows flicker in empty corridors, unseen eyes seem to watch from the dark, and the very walls breathe with secrets waiting to be uncovered.

Ghostly figures stalk the grounds, and those who trespass risk becoming part of the manor’s ever-growing legend.

A well-funded and clandestine enterprise, The Project Wurgen facility once buzzed with scientific activity conducting inhumane experiments on both humans and animals following a groundbreaking discovery in genetic cartography for Germany. Isolated in a wooded area, the complex allowed researchers to carry out their secretive work undisturbed, shielded from prying eyes. However, an act of sabotage perpetrated by a mysterious outside source unleashed a horde of tormented creatures, plunging the facility into chaos. Reduced to a state of near-collapse, the facility now lays bare the deception behind its facade: from the extravagant art gallery and cinema room that enticed workers with the benefactor's wealth to the sterile containment pods and clinical medical equipment. The same mysterious force responsible for the facility's downfall is now enticing Truth Seekers to unveil its concealed secrets once more.

Millhaven Asylum has a long and storied history. Previously a home for the criminally insane, it was modernised in the early seventies into a state of the art psychiatric hospital. Then, without notice, all funding was pulled and it was left to decay. Overgrown in places, with flaking paint and aging furniture, the Asylum shows signs of its previous life as an operational facility: an open Atrium that would have given patients a view of the outside world they could not reach, a dormitory where people were kept awake by the cries of others, a Morgue for those who died within the Asylum’s walls. The Asylum gained notoriety after an occult mass murder took place. The lone survivor - a young boy - vanished whilst in custody. With subtle coercion from an anonymous source, the Truth Seekers took it upon themselves to reopen the case… and they’ve been missing ever since.
